Hanging Barro Prep Bowl Set

from Hecho

Designed and handcrafted in Mexico.

The ideal pieces for a dedicated afternoon in the kitchen, these slow made pottery prep bowl sets feature unique markings from the pit fire process, a handmade agave rope for hanging and a textured surface in the perfect neutral of peachy blush. Created from natural materials with traditional processes, these vessels are both food and oven safe. As they’re unglazed, greasy items may stain the surface. These bowls can also be used for serving up side dishes, snacks and other delights.

Brand story

Hecho is a curated collection of ethically produced, handcrafted goods made by skilled artisans across Mexico and Guatemala. This small collective of artisans are an incredibly hardworking, knowledgeable and creative group. They are dedicated to their respective crafts, as well as upholding family and cultural traditions.

Founder Ehren Seeland was driven to create Hecho after becoming so inspired by the handmade pieces and stories she had gathered while undertaking international development work across the globe. She works hard to ensure that, through Hecho, she is able to share these remarkable products and stories within the context of a sustainable business built on partnerships, respect and transparency.

Giving Back
Hecho support their artisans through socially-focused projects. These projects are based on artisan feedback as to what is most beneficial for them. For example Hecho have: assisted with photo-documenting and editing to help artisans reach new clients; helped artisans develop special projects when extra funds are needed; donated second hand smartphones and provided instruction on how this technology can help their business; and have donated unsold Hecho stock to artisans to sell at their own market stalls.

Every effort is made to select suppliers that are transparent and operate ethically. Suppliers have confirmed the accuracy of the values above, however resources do not permit independent verification of each claim.

Materials & Care

Every piece is handmade and one-of-a-kind, so the shape, size and colour will vary per piece.
— Materials: Handmade with local clay and pit fired for approx 6 hours, handmade agave rope and string, handspun wool and jute tassel.
— Care: Hand wash, and do not place in the dish washer or microwave. These pieces are food safe, however care should be taken to not place anything greasy inside or they may stain. As these pieces are unglazed, natural pottery, they will sweat if standing water is placed inside. Forks, knives and other utensils may scratch the surface of these bowls, but this is a normal part of regular use of unglazed Mexican pottery.
