More in the making

We love the entire range of Cisco & The Sun products and the ethics behind what they do. It's a perfect fit for Okay.

The Cisco & The Sun story began five years ago when Cisco and her husband George opened an island stay in Canggu, Bali. It was during the curation of the restaurant space that Cisco found herself unable to source the precise pieces that were envisioned for the setting. Cisco set about creating her own line of homewares to suit their aesthetic as well as their dedication to sustainability.

All products are crafted entirely by hand in Bali and Cambodia by local artisans using ancient and considered techniques of ceramic making that is unique to Sapporo, Japan. All pieces are sustainably crafted through the processes of the studio and materials used - with pure substances sourced directly from the earth, for example raw clay from the mountains of Cambodia; a strict policy of only firing the kiln when it is completely full; and throw pieces on a man-powered potter's wheel.

We get so excited about the authenticity of product ranges like these. Being handmade, slight variances may exist within each item, giving uniqueness to glaze, size, texture and weight. These variations add depth and beauty to the ceramic craft, signifying their spirit and dissimilarity to the mass produced. This process of making is imbedded in the real lives of people, so each piece holds their own story.
