From husk to cup

We love the holistic approach taken by HuskeeCup to create a reusable coffee cup that’s both sustainable and sophisticated.

With a background in coffee production, the Huskee team saw an opportunity to repurpose the coffee husk — a wasted product of the coffee making process. The total wastage worldwide from the coffee husk tops 1.7 million tonnes with the average coffee drinker responsible for 3kg of waste per year. By using the husk,
HuskeeCup, are able to recycle hundreds of tonnes of waste material and edge closer to achieving a zero-waste coffee production cycle.

The thoughtful and well considered design of the cup means it’s chip and crack resistant — designed to last years in both cafe and home environments unlike the humble ceramic cup! The grooved interior is engineered to keep your coffee warmer for longer and it also assist milk integration to make your coffee creamy. Plus it’s dishwasher friendly and comes in a range of sizes and colours.

Their clever, functional and durable design earned them a prestigious Good Design Award Best in Class in 2018, the SCA Design Lab ‘Coffee Vessel’ Award, and has helped reduced the number of disposable cups that end up in landfill.
